No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L, sku-13233071737, UPC 468682497974, is a 16" x 20" historic print about aviator and manufacturer Glenn Hammond Curtiss and the Langley Medal presented to him by the Smithsonian on February 13, 1913. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography was invented in 1796 and enabled inexpensive mass printing.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections about American cultural heritage. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
The range also includes vintage Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
