This Black, size L Wall Art print from Snapshots of the Past (sku-13636963767; UPC 468149066200) shows Prof. Felix Frankfurter answering questions before a Senate committee in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 12. The print measures 16 x 20 inches. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives using archival paper and pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers; it was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

A Library of Congress pilot called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
