Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13283106804

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13283106804, UPC 467169958762, is a Black, size L, 16 x 20 reproduction print. It depicts Corporal Stanley Hwaszcz, USMC, of Utica, N.Y., with passing natives in a jeep on a South Sea Island. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using fine-art and archival papers.

Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history.

The company's other subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Its retro-style prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
