The company, founded in 2001, makes restored reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives using archival paper and pigmented inks, which it says can last a lifetime and be passed down.

It says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality, fine-art reproduction prints; its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of Internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796 and enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, begun in 1995 to digitize selected collections relating to American cultural heritage. The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.

The retro-style prints are intended for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
