Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13452966909

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, color Black, sku-13452966909, UPC 466409826847, is an 18" x 24" historic print of a bomb-proof rifle pit in front of Petersburg. The company makes home decor reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass production of poster prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproduction prints use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, materials intended to last a lifetime and be passed down through generations. The company's range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
