Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13299720905 Print

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L (sku-13299720905; UPC 468639024871). This 16" x 20" historic print depicts Beatriz Michelena and her own company in just squaw. The company, founded in 2001, makes reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives. It was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced prints inexpensive.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections about American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks. The range includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities such as Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
