Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, Black (UPC 468944687655; sku-13227167966) depicts Signal Corps officers at Army of the Potomac headquarters in Bealton, Virginia. This 16" x 20" historic print reproduces an image from the Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796 and made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989.

It laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections about American cultural heritage. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The range includes historical maps, photographs, old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
