No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Posters, size L, Black, sku-13288370834, UPC 464386946794. This 16" x 20" reproduction shows Andrew Scavnicky with fellow coal miners in Hazelton, Pennsylvania: 4 miners at a pit head waiting for a man car. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
