[Unique Vintage Prints] The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives for home decor. [Satisfied Customers] Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. [American Memory] Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of poster prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. [Museum Quality] The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, intended to last a lifetime and be passed down. [Great Gifts] The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
