Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass-produced prints, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history.

The company's retro-style reproductions include old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities, intended for display or as gifts.
