Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art L sku-5231327939

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art is a Black, size L framed print titled [Woman in white cape, breastfeeding a baby]. It measures 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photos, and prints from Library of Congress archives for reproduction as home decor.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of poster prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are described as suitable for keeping and passing down. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home, in a study, or at work, or given as gifts.
