Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L, sku-5230194369 Print

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-5230194369, is a Black, size L framed print of the Washington general post office, measuring 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". UPC: 463222157295. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor. Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. The company's account of print history notes the invention of lithography in 1796, which helped make inexpensive mass-produced posters possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last a lifetime and be passed down through generations.

The collection includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style posters for a home, study or workplace. They can also be given as gifts.
