Snapshots of the Past Framed Wall Art L sku-5290756319

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-5290756319 and UPC 467896483162, is listed in Black and size L. This framed print shows schoolchildren outside a schoolhouse and on a stairway in Yonkers, N.Y.; it measures 17-7/8" x 21-7/8".

The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program that began in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; the prints are described as suitable for a home, study or workplace or as gifts.
