Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L Print sku-5292050725

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, color Black, sku-5292050725, UPC 469248706400, is a framed reproduction print showing the Old State House, Main Street and Central Row in Hartford, Connecticut. The title lists its dimensions as 10, 17-7/8" x 21-7/8".

The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives and produces reproductions on archival paper with pigmented inks. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. The company's reproductions also include vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
