Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Lithography, a printing technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of posters, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The company uses archival paper and pigmented inks for prints intended to last and be passed down. Its range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, plus early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints are offered for homes, studies and workplaces, and as gifts.
