Snapshots of the Past Framed Wall Art L | sku-5229798647

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, in Black, sku-5229798647 (UPC 462615004055), is a framed reproduction print of Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, measuring 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The company's reproduction prints use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Its other print subjects include vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; the prints can be displayed at home or at work or given as gifts.
