Snapshots of the Past Black L Christmas Card sku-5232878265

This Snapshots of the Past Greeting Cards listing, sku-5232878265, is marked Black, size L, with UPC 467567996670. Its title describes a 17-7/8" x 21-7/8" historic framed print of a Christmas card showing Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus in a barn. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives for reproduction as home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. The company's suggested display subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. It also suggests the prints as gifts.
