Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Print | sku-5277858074

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art (size L; sku-5277858074; UPC 467849647597) is a framed historic reproduction titled Banned from acting in her own play. Its listed dimensions are 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for use as home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. It reports buyers including over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers, and says it was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of poster prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections dealing with American cultural history.

The company's reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Its range includes older holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, offered for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
