These coaxials combine lightweight, rigid Alpha-Cellulose cones with moisture-resistant rubber surrounds to deliver tight low-end response and long-lasting durability. The tweeter uses a Neo-Mylar soft dome for smooth highs and increased impact resistance, mounted on a 1 inch Neo-Mylar soft dome tweeter with a Kapton surround for efficient heat dissipation. The motor and suspension components are built for power handling and stability: a ferrite magnet motor drives a pure copper voice coil wound on a Kapton former, while an epoxy-infused natural fiber spider provides controlled excursion with strength from the epoxy treatment. Braided tinsel leads ensure flexible, highly conductive connections and a high-temperature adhesive permanently bonds the cone to the surround. Cooling is handled by an overcoil design that circulates air over the voice coil through the spider. Crossover duties are handled by a passive Butterworth network with a 4 kHz crossover point and a 12dB slope for a smooth handoff between midbass and tweeter. The speakers ride in anti-resonant stamped steel baskets to minimize harmonic distortion and include protective grills (not required if mounted behind a vehicle panel).
