Professor of History Camilla Townsend sku-13321792 Book

Professor of History Camilla Townsend sku-13321792 is listed under Latin American History Books. Here in This Year: Seventeenth-Century Nahuatl Annals of the Tlaxcala-Puebla Valley is a hardcover presenting two sets of Nahuatl annals with facing English translations.

One set was written by a Native American writer in Puebla, Mexico, in the late seventeenth century; the other comes from a more provincial locale. The Puebla annals recount local history from the arrival of Christianity to the writer's own day, including a riot by Indigenous breadsellers over a Spanish monopoly scheme, plans to remove native people from the city, church construction, disputed elections, hangings, epidemics and eclipses.

The annals belong to a wider body of writing produced by native peoples in the Tlaxcala-Puebla region for their descendants. The book brings both sets to English-speaking readers.
