These telescopes can see images 4 billion times fainter than you can see with the naked eye. It is the most productive ground-based astronomical facility. Its accomplishments include tracking the movement of stars orbiting the Milky Way's black hole, observing the furthest known gamma-ray burst's afterglow, and getting the first direct image of an exoplanet.
