Florida Foliage Red Sun Exposure plants | sku-3766392259

Florida Foliage Frosty Fire Dianthus comes as 20 Plants with Red flowers. It is listed under Sun Exposure as sku-3766392259; UPC: 305361894917. This cold-hardy dwarf carnation has narrow blue-green to aqua-blue foliage that forms a low, compact groundcover mat. The foliage stays evergreen except in the coldest winters.

Its fragrant, frilly double flowers are about 1 inch wide, bright red to red-pink with some white spots. The 1-inch blooms appear from late spring into summer, with some reblooming into early fall when spent flowers are removed. Their spicy scent attracts butterflies, and the flowers can be cut for small indoor bouquets. Deadheading or picking flowers prolongs blooming; do not shear the foliage.

Frosty Fire is heat tolerant, needs little maintenance and prefers loose, sandy alkaline soil. Divide it every 2-3 years in spring. It can be used as a border, accent perennial or groundcover in a cottage garden. Its flowers are fuller than those of Bath's Pink.
