Frosty Berseem Clover Seed (Trifolium alexandrinum) - 10 Lbs.
Berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum) is a cool-season annual legume originating from the Mediterranean and has served as an agricultural staple in the Nile Delta for millennia. The species is known for salt tolerance, strong nitrogen fixation and a complementary relationship with alfalfa. Frosty retains those Mediterranean genetics but has been selectively bred for later maturity, improved cold tolerance, greater productivity and enhanced nutritional quality. Frosty produces highly palatable forage that deer favor. In Mississippi food plot trials, Frosty was grazed by 4x more deer than other competing clovers, making it an excellent choice for establishing a dependable food source. Key benefits include: - Excellent palatability — deer seek it out over other options - Quality protein as high as 22.1%, which supports body mass and rack development - Feed value up to 182, contributing to healthy deer and healthy offspring As a cover crop in the southern U.S., Frosty is an ideal nitrogen-fixing option due to its growth habit and timing. It generates early-season biomass, making it useful in rotations with corn and cotton across the southeast US. Note: north of Tennessee, Frosty may winterkill, so use it only where winterkill is acceptable or desired. Planting information: Frosty berseem prefers slightly alkaline loam and silty soils with a pH of 6+. Plant 1/4 inch deep. Seeding rate: Drilled: monoculture 15 lb./acre; in mixes 5-7 lb./acre Broadcast: monoculture 25 lb./acre; in mixes 12-16 lb./acre
