The book also includes an introduction to the culture and its folk narrative tradition, a map of the areas covered, illustrations, collector and narrator biographies, tale type and motif indexes, a subject index, and a bibliography. The collection preserves oral traditions from communities affected by the Holocaust, migration, and changes in ways of life.
