Its discharge curve stays above 12V through up to 95% of capacity use, compared with 50% for lead acid.
At about 1/3 the weight of lead acid, it is intended for RV, marine and off-grid uses where weight matters. A built-in battery management system protects against overcharge, deep discharge, overload, overheating and short circuits. The stated low self-discharge allows up to 1 year of maintenance-free storage. A low-temperature cutoff stops charging below 23 °F (-5 °C).
