Chih-Yu Shih All Books Self-Feminizing sku-886028297

Chih-Yu Shih's hardcover Eros of International Relations: Self-Feminizing and the Claiming of Postcolonial Chineseness is in All Books, SKU sku-886028297. The book examines a Chinese perspective on international relations theory and argues that sovereign actors claiming to represent Chineseness have used feminine identities imposed by the West.

It defines self-feminizing as adopting a feminine identity to seek mutual care as a relational strategy. Shih argues that postcolonial actors used gendered identities to withstand globalization and nationalism, and explores how self-feminizing can challenge masculine competition and offer feminist possibilities for emancipation.
