Ganesha, also called Ganapati and Vinayaka, is a widely worshipped Hindu deity whose image appears across India.[2][3] Hindu sects worship him regardless of affiliation, and devotion to him extends to Jains, Buddhists and people beyond India.[4][5] His elephant head identifies him; he is revered as a remover of obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom.[6][7][8] He is honored at the beginning of rituals and invoked as a patron of letters and learning during writing.[9][10] Texts recount his birth and exploits and explain his iconography. He emerged as a distinct deity in the 4th and 5th centuries CE during the Gupta period, drawing on Vedic and pre-Vedic traits.[11] In the 9th century, Smartism included him among its five primary deities. Ganapatya devotees regarded him as the supreme deity.[12] Scriptures dedicated to him include the Ganesha Purana, Mudgala Purana and Ganapati Atharvashirsa. You may also like Ebros Gift Decorative Accents Set of 4 sku-5441358480.
