The synthetic-fiber compound contains ceramic particles and no steel fibers. EBC describes dust reductions of 60 to 90 percent and separately gives an approximate 50 percent dust reduction; remaining dust can be removed with a sponge wash.
The pads brake from cold and improve as they heat. Compared with its earlier pre-ceramic Redstuff compound, EBC says this version lasts longer, brakes better, and is quieter. As hard-wearing pads intended for repeated heavy braking, they may take up to 1000 miles to bed in. EBC reports a passenger-car stopping distance 13 metres shorter than OEM pads from 100 mph.
A Brake-In surface coating conditions the rotor during bedding, and the nominal friction coefficient is 0.5. Most EBC Red Ceramic pads are approved to ECE R90. Listed fitments include 2018-2021,2023 Audi Q5 and 2022 Audi Q5 Premium Plus 40; check vehicle fit before ordering.
