Approved to meet the food-grade requirements set forth in Food Chemical Codex III. When used in foods and beverages it functions as an acidulant, imparting a tangy, sour flavor. Industrial and maintenance uses: effective as a rust remover and inhibitor — dilute with water to a 25-50% concentration and soak rusted metal components for cleaning. Also suitable for removing metal residues and scale. Specialty processing: can be used to separate glycerine from soap mixtures; with proper technique the process can produce glycerine up to 90% pure.
