The Silver Dorman 600-234XD power transfer unit assembly is listed under Dorman, SKU sku-518030917, UPC 889245610386. This patented, 100-percent newly manufactured PTU has a redesigned construction intended to improve durability over the factory part on certain Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.

Its heat shield, absent from the factory part, reduces heat transfer to the gearbox lubricant by up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit to help prevent thermal breakdown. Improved seal material withstands temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit and helps prevent oil leaks. A drain plug makes routine gearbox-lubricant service easier than with the original design and helps prevent future failures.
