It has a soft, slightly cottony texture similar to cold-press paper. The colored grounds can add texture, while Transparent lets the underlying wood grain or decorative paper show through. Titanium White can cover a painting mistake so you can start again on a white surface.

The archival-quality ground also allows lifting and scrubbing without damaging the painting surface and framing without glass. Use it straight from the container. A soft-haired synthetic brush, foam brush or foam roller gives a smoother finish; a hog bristle brush gives more texture. Let it dry and cure for at least 24 hours to reach the intended absorption.
