Florida Foliage Red Dahoon Holly Sun Exposure sku-1611006730

Florida Foliage Dahoon Holly Tree (Ilex Cassine), a Red Sun Exposure listing of 20 Plants, all live, sku-1611006730, UPC 305361889944. This evergreen has red berries and can be used as a screening hedge for privacy. Its moderate size, salt-spray tolerance and ability to withstand urban air pollution make it suitable for parking lots, highway medians, residential streets and sidewalks.

It prefers full sun but adapts to partial shade and grows in clay, loamy or sandy soil. Before planting, locate underground utilities and allow room for the mature tree near buildings, other trees and overhead power lines. Dig a hole as deep as the container or root ball and 2 to 3 times as wide.

Remove the tree carefully, set it in the hole, then backfill with native soil, keeping the base slightly above ground level. Firm the soil as you go to prevent air pockets. Once established, it needs little maintenance pruning. Its branches resist breakage, it has no autumn leaf drop to clean up, and its berries remain on the tree rather than creating litter.
