Regina Mara Schwartz Sacramental Poetics sku-155366512

Regina Mara Schwartz's hardcover Sacramental Poetics at the Dawn of Secularism: When God Left the World is in the Cultural Memory in the Present series. It is listed in Religion & Religious Studies Books under sku-155366512. Schwartz examines what followed when Reformers abandoned transubstantiation while retaining revised forms of the Eucharist.

She argues that longings once attached to the sacrament moved into other cultural forms, including the arts. The book considers the relationship between art and the sacred and describes sacramental poetics through the idea of signs pointing beyond themselves.
