Clean Streams by Franklin L Kury | sku-16619699 Hardcover

In Clean Politics, Clean Streams, Franklin L Kury recounts his election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and later the Senate, including campaigns against a senior House Republican and an entrenched patronage organization. He was the only Democrat elected from his district to either chamber since the Roosevelt landslide in 1936.

Kury describes his work on the state constitutional environmental amendment, clean streams and public utility laws, gubernatorial disability legislation, changes to Senate confirmation procedures, and flood plain and storm water management laws. His account draws on his recollections, personal files, legislative archives and conversations with people familiar with the issues.

Notes and appendices document the book, which closes with his reflections on the legislature's past, present and future. This hardcover is listed under All Manuals & Guides as sku-16619699.
