This circular CPL removes unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass, enhances color and contrast, and helps clear atmospheric haze in distant landscapes to deliver more vivid, saturated tones. It is commonly used to boost contrast and deepen blue skies and white clouds. The filter operates by arranging and filtering directionally polarized light perpendicular to the reflected light so that much of the reflected light is absorbed. Effect is strongest when the filter is used at a 90° angle from the sun.
