No rating yet(0 ratings)USPS 563000 Celebration Corsage is a Green Two-Ounce stamp offered in 5 sheets of 20. It can cover postage for heavy invitations, oversize greeting cards and small gifts that require the two-ounce rate. Like a Forever stamp, it remains valid for the rate printed on it. Its design pairs with the Celebration Boutonniere Forever stamp.
The stamp shows a photographed corsage of ranunculus, hypericum berry, Astrantia and seed eucalyptus, with a ribbon running through it. The word “corsage” comes from the French word for the bodice of a dress; flowers pinned to dresses were once called bouquet de corsage.
Corsages and boutonnieres were worn daily in earlier centuries, particularly during the 1700s and 1800s, before becoming more common at formal occasions. Today, corsages may be worn by mothers of the bride and groom or by honorees at Mother’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, Easter and proms.
Ethel Kessler directed the stamp art; Carol Caggiano arranged the flowers, and Renée Comet photographed them. Listed under USPS Postage Stamps; SKU sku-620805556; UPC 788536545959.
