HOW TO PREVENT THE SPINDLE FROM TURNING WHEN REMOVING BLADES: Use a blade removal tool and first loosen its clamp by turning the handle counterclockwise. Set the tool so the end sits over the blade tip and the stopping edge rests against the deck side. Then turn the handle clockwise to tighten the clamp and hold the spindle steady while you remove the blade.
