The Canon XA65 is a compact, lightweight ENG-style camcorder built for documentary and news shooting, retaining many of the strengths of the XA45 while adding updated ergonomics and connectivity. It records up to UHD 4K30 using a 1/2.3" CMOS sensor and is driven by the DIG!C DV 6 image processor for improved sensitivity and reduced noise. Recording is available in XF-AVC and MP4 formats, with OSD metadata support and both dual SD relay and simultaneous recording modes. Audio connectivity is professional-grade with two XLR inputs and mic/line support. Outputs include one mini-HDMI and one BNC 3G-SDI connector, and the camera also offers a fast USB Type-C video-only output with UVC for direct livestreaming to a computer. Optics and imaging features: an integrated 20x 4K/HD optical zoom lens with an eight-bladed circular iris for smooth highlights; optical and electronic image stabilization; a range of focus modes including Hybrid, Normal, Face Only, Instant, Canon Medium, and full manual focus control; and support for fast- and slow-motion capture. The user interface and monitoring are enhanced by a larger 3.5" capacitive touchscreen LCD and a higher-resolution tiltable 0.36" OLED EVF, along with customizable user buttons and an infrared shooting mode.
