Professional-grade imaging built around a new Canon-designed 24.2MP full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel AF. The EOS R1 introduces a Cross-type AF directly on the imaging sensor — a first for Canon — delivering improved autofocus precision and reliability. A built-in neural upscaling tool can double both horizontal and vertical resolution to produce a 96MP JPEG in about 10 seconds. The camera also offers a pre-continuous shooting buffer that records the previous 1/2-second of frames before a full shutter release, helping secure decisive moments you might otherwise miss. Performance is accelerated by a new DIGIC Accelerator working alongside the DIGIC X Image Processor. Together they manage tasks such as eye control, metering, and other processing-heavy functions for faster, more responsive operation overall.
