A rounded nine-blade diaphragm yields pleasing out-of-focus rendering for shallow depth-of-field images. Image stabilization delivers up to four stops of correction with three selectable modes: Standard, Panning, and Exposure Only. Autofocus is driven by a fast, quiet ring-type USM with optimized algorithms and supports full-time manual focus override for precise control. The lens barrel is weather-resistant and both front and rear elements have a fluorine coating to help repel dust, moisture, and fingerprints.
