What is Customer Questions & Answers?

Customer Questions & Answers lets registered customers ask product-specific questions and share answers based on their experience. Questions and answers appear after moderation.

Ask about the product itself, especially details another customer may know from using it. For example: Does this camera take good pictures in low light? How long does this laptop battery last while watching movies? Does this computer have noisy cooling fans?

High-speed, single-pass duplex scanning at up to 16 ppm(1) in color or black & white lets the Brother DS-740D capture one- and two-sided documents in a single sweep. Designed for mobile use, the scanner can be powered via a micro USB 3.0 connection to a laptop or PC, so you can scan from virtually any location.

The Desk Saving Design (DSD) lid reduces the operating footprint — saving up to 11 inches of desk space(2) — making it ideal for crowded workspaces. Scan directly to multiple destinations with the included software: File, Image, OCR, Email, and cloud services to streamline workflows(3).

The DS-740D supports Windows, Mac® and Linux® environments and provides TWAIN/WIA for PC, ICA for Mac, and SANE drivers(4). Bundled document management and OCR tools convert hardcopy pages into editable Microsoft Word files and offer image optimization features such as automatic color detection/adjustment, image rotation (PC only), bleed-through prevention, background removal, text enhancement, and color drop(3).

Compact and lightweight for easy transport, the DS-740D measures less than 11.8 inches in length and weighs under 1.5 pounds. Single-pass duplex scanning reduces handling and helps prevent wear on originals by scanning both sides at once.

The scanner accepts a wide range of media — from business cards and plastic ID cards to lengthy documents up to 72 inches long — handling paper weights up to 72 lb. bond. Support and warranty: 1-Year Limited Warranty plus Brother free online, phone, or live chat technical support for the life of the scanner(5).

Disclaimers: (1) Color and monochrome scan speed measured on Letter size paper at 300 dpi. (2) Based on Letter (8.5" x 11") size paper. (3) When connected to a PC with applicable software.
