A remote controls power, daylight hours, brightness, climate presets and mist boost. Circular LED lighting at the top of the sphere offers 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour and 14-hour cycles. A humidity sensor activates the ultrasonic HumidiMist unit when humidity falls below its preset value.

A continuously running fan circulates air through a replaceable carbon filter and regularly brings in a small amount of fresh air. If the unit detects a temperature above 104°F (40°C), its light dims by 50% until the temperature reaches 95°F (35°C). The three climate settings are tropical, semi-arid and medium. Opening the lid more than 10° stops the fan and fogger and turns on the lights.

The replaceable filter uses open-cell reticulated polyether-based polyurethane foam treated with activated carbon. Included sterilized coir compost is made from cocopeat extracted from coconut husk. Polypropylene, PET and viscose capillary matting stores water for sub-irrigation while keeping roots from soaking. A water-level indicator shows the level in the base.

HumidiMist solution contains the minimum dissolved solids needed to activate the misting-unit sensor.
