Dark Rock 5 delivers serious cooling performance via six high-performance copper heat pipes paired with a tightly packed aluminum fin array. A special black coating infused with ceramic particles improves heat transfer from the heatsink to the surrounding air, keeping systems stable under heavy loads. Cooling is provided by a Silent Wings 4 120mm PWM fan that uses an advanced fluid-dynamic bearing, a smooth 6-pole motor and airflow-optimized fan blades. Precise tip clearance between blade and frame produces very high air pressure, while a funnel-shaped frame outlet ensures even air distribution. The fan’s rubberized frame isolates vibrations to reduce noise. The cooler’s asymmetrical layout and cut-outs in the heatsink boost compatibility with RAM and VRM coolers and permit limitless memory height. For extra airflow, a second fan can be mounted at the exhaust. Installation is simplified by a preinstalled mounting bridge and a secure yet gentle fastening method; a long-neck screwdriver is included in the package. A magnetic mesh top cover conceals heat pipe ends and the screw hole for a clean look, and the nickel-plated base is compatible with liquid metal thermal grease such as DC2 Pro—allowing high-end CPUs to reach even higher performance.
