Back Stories Hardcover | Amahl A Bishara sku-20749320
No rating yet(0 ratings)Back Stories is a hardcover book by Amahl A Bishara, sku-20749320, listed under Middle Eastern History Books. Bishara examines how Palestinian journalists help produce U.S. news from Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, and the roads between them. Their work as fixers, photojournalists, camerapeople, reporters, and producers is often invisible to Western readers.
Through coverage of Yassir Arafat's funeral, female suicide bombers, protests against the separation barrier, and the killing of a mentally disabled man, the book considers objectivity, violence, the state, and knowledge during the second intifada. It also examines how U.S. journalism shapes Palestinian politics and why journalists' work matters to Palestinian self-determination.
