Cecile Spector's As Far As Words Go, Revised Edition, is a mixed-media activity book listed under All Books. Its seven units use jokes and puns to help students interpret ambiguous words, phrases and sentences, including homographs, homophones, idioms, proverbs, metaphors and similes.

Intended for students from upper elementary grades through high school and beyond, it offers speech-language pathologists and educators activities for semantic, metalinguistic and pragmatic skills, including work with students who have language or learning disabilities or are learning English as a second language.

Activities can be used in small groups or one-to-one to practice recognizing language complexities and humor cues in everyday language. The book includes research summaries, background on language concepts, presentation and generalization techniques, and material for assessing progress.

Printable resources include photocopiable assessment forms, a full-color game mat, color- and icon-coded cards, a template for additional cards, and a guide to common idioms and proverbs. It is presented as a follow-up to Cecile Cyrul Spector's Sounds Like Fun. SKU: sku-11079201.
