Constructed from Eastern Aromatic Red Cedar, the planter showcases the wood’s distinctive aroma and its soft, fine, even texture—the same cedar commonly used for closets, chests, and fence posts. The finish is an oil-based outdoor sealer chosen to enhance the cedar’s natural reddish tones and add an amber warmth while helping the wood resist moisture. If the planter sits fully exposed to sun and weather, restain once per year; if placed in a partially sheltered spot (for example, on a porch), restain after the first year and then every 2-3 years thereafter. Any oil-based sealer in a Cedar tone will work, and we use Finish Works FL5812. The design has been refined with thicker and wider slats in the support system for improved load distribution and reduced sagging. All planks are professionally milled to a smooth, flat, straight, and square finish for consistent quality, an elegant rustic appearance, and minimized risk of splinters.
