Florida Foliage Sun Exposure White Iris sku-3990841497

Florida Foliage Sun Exposure African iris comes as 2 Plants in White (sku-3990841497; UPC 305361803346). The source describes white flowers with yellow and purple-blue markings, and also describes the petals as pale yellow with purple markings. Flowers rise above stiff, iris-like evergreen foliage.

Each bloom lasts one day, but new stems appear about every 14 days, with flowers recurring roughly every 2 weeks from spring through fall. Native to South Africa, the drought-tolerant, fire-resistant plant is called Dietes bicolor, fortnight lily, yellow fortnight lily, and butterfly flag. It is a cousin of bearded and Siberian irises.

Grow it in fertile, well-drained soil, though it adapts to other conditions. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish its roots. Remove spent flower stalks to keep the plant tidy and prevent self-sowing. Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring.
