For the lower housing, use a box-end wrench on the nut and a strap wrench on the body during initial removal, then grease the new O-ring. To change the frame-rail filter, disconnect the sensor harness and loosen the housing with a 1 1/4" socket, a 32mm socket or a strap wrench.

Turn it 3 times before opening the yellow drain valve, and drain the fuel into a suitable container. For the engine filter, release the fuel-line keepers and tabs, loosen the clamp with a 7mm socket, turn the filter to the right until it stops and lift it out; reverse the steps to install it.

After changing both filters, turn the key on without starting the engine, wait about 30 seconds for the pump to stop, then turn it off. Repeat the cycle 6 times before starting.
