Built-in mechanical interlocks and control circuits prevent both sources from entering the AC distribution board at once and causing a short circuit.
The pre-wired switch changes the primary source from shore power to generator or inverter power when activated. It has a selectable 30-second delay, quick-connect terminals and a removable protective cover with a wiring schematic inside.
