The reverse, designed by David Lawrence, depicts the Queen's Panther holding the impaled Arms of Henry VIII with the Coat of Augmentation bestowed on Jane Seymour. Henry VIII gave the Queen's Panther to Jane Seymour as a heraldic emblem of her legitimacy; it stands on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace. Heraldic depictions give the panther fiery breath said to be withstood only by the dragon.
The Royal Tudor Beasts series follows The Queen's Beasts and depicts heraldic beasts from Henry VIII's reign: the Seymour Panther, Lion of England, Bull of Clarence, Tudor Dragon, Greyhound of Richmond, Royal Dragon, Yale of Beaufort, Seymour Unicorn, Queen's Panther and Queen's Lion.
